Zazen – Seated Yoga @Hive
A sore lower back, stiff neck, and tight hips and shoulders are problems that occur when we work non- stop at a desk for 8+ hours. Practising office yoga poses and sequences at the desk help in minimizing discomfort throughout the day, making it easier to focus on work. On this International Yoga Day, OurHealthMate decided to organize an innovative form of yoga, Zazen – A Seated Yoga at the Hive.
A seated meditative discipline can be done in the comfort of your home or office. Along with that, few other yoga positions were also taught at Hive. Rudresh Jayaram, an experienced yoga instructor took the session and engaged with participants at both personal and group level.
On 21st June, 12 noon onwards Zazen was conducted at the newly built L6 Cafeteria of the Hive. The entire session lasted four hours. There were two sessions – One was Zazen at Hive and the other one was Zazen at OurHealthMate office.
Zazen at Hive was facilitated in multiple 10 minutes sessions. Participants were first introduced to yoga and its importance, followed by stretches and asanas for neck, arms, shoulder, low back, and legs. It ended with two minutes of deep meditation. OurHealthMate volunteers video recorded the participants performing, so that they can practice the yoga routine at home or any other place, with the help of the video. Those participating in the session were asked to sit in designed “office setup” and follow the instructions of the yoga instructor.
Participants enjoyed the session and sought answers to several questions on improving health with yoga. The event ended with people clicking pictures in the Instagram frame with trending Instagram hashtags. Few participants posted their pictures on social media to create awareness about the event. OurHealthMate provided “I Pledge” certificates to participants for their enthusiastic response to the event.
