“Wellness is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” – The World Health Organization.

The word wellness as the dictionary defines it, “is a state of being in good health, especially as an actively pursued goal.”  Or, in simple words, it is an active process of becoming aware of all the choices you make towards a happy and fulfilling life.

Wellness is not just physical health, but it encompasses physical, intellectual, spiritual and emotional aspects of being; entire characterization of physical health, happiness, prosperity, and welfare covers the wide spectrum of wellness.

And, irrespective of all the milestones we set for ourselves in terms of career and physical wellbeing, wellness is a shared goal for all the people across the world. And each element of wellness, no matter how small, affects the overall-wellbeing of an individual.

Elements of Wellbeing

Intellectual Wellbeing: Recognizing creative abilities and finding ways to expand knowledge and skills.

Financial Wellbeing: Feeling satisfied with current and future financial situations.

Environmental Wellbeing: Occupying pleasant, stimulating environments that support well-being.

Emotional Wellbeing: Coping effectively with life and creating satisfying relationships.

Purpose Wellbeing: Expanding a sense of purpose and meaning in life.

Social Wellbeing: Developing a sense of connection, belonging, and a well developed support system.

Physical Wellbeing: Recognizing the need for physical activity, healthy food, and sleep.

Career Wellbeing: Creating personal satisfaction and enrichment from one’s work.


Now, that you are aware of all the elements that collectively encompass the wide spectrum of wellness in general. We would like you to follow some steps out of our Global Wellness Day Manifesto that if followed continually can offer you an array of benefits.

  • Drink 8 glasses of water every day
  • Consume more fruits and vegetables
  • Say yes to your needs
  • Make exercise your choice not a chore
  • Connect with old friends
  • Spend time in nature
  • Listen to your body
  • Spend some quality time with your family
  • Laugh until your belly hurts
  • Get enough sleep
  • Meditate for at least 15 minutes daily
  • Stop worrying about the things you can’t control

Always remember, “One day can change your whole life” and “You are just one step away from a completely different life.” So, keeping all the elements of well-being in mind, make the above two your daily mantras and we can assure you, your life will improve significantly, turning you into a more satisfied and positive individual.
